Castles in Germany (Rhine Valley @ Rhine River) – Koblenz to Mainz @ Germany

Castles in Germany (Rhine Valley @ Rhine River) – Koblenz to Mainz @ Germany

Rhine River started from the Alps of Switzerland, flow north, passing through Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, France, and The Netherlands before it reaches the North Sea. Both Koblenz and Mainz are cities situated on the banks of the Rhine River and Mainz is the capital of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The trip between Koblenz and Mainz offers lots of steep vineyard-covered mountains and castles. There are basically 4 means of travelling along this valley. The car, the train, the boat and if you can really walk ;-P

I tried going by water… Okay, I mean going on a river cruise from Koblenz to Mainz through the Rhine Valley. I tried the Koeln-Duesseldorfer (KD) Line that runs many slow and fast boats daily between Koblenz and Mainz. The journey took us (I was there with my wife) about 4-5 hours as the boat stop at many riverside towns along the way. The trip is really worth going if you go to Germany. There were lots of beautiful castles, vineyard, noble castles, fields… and more castles and more vineyards and… Seriously is really beautiful. It just makes me wonder, why in the world Germany have so many castles and how come Singapore doesn’t even have one. ;-P
