We Are Soldier - Taipei @ Taiwan

We Are Soldier - Taipei @ Taiwan

Taiwan (Known also as The Republic of China) located in the Eastern Asia, islands bordering the East China Sea, Philippine Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait, north of the Philippines, off the southeastern coast of China. The de facto capital (provisional capital) of Taiwan is Taipei (台北), which is also the largest city in Taiwan.

The photo is taken in the Martyrs' Shrine, Taipei (台北 大直 忠烈祠). It is situated on the Chingshan Mountain, close to the Grand Hotel (圓山飯店) and is overlooking the Keelung River (基隆河).

It was built in 1969, in honor of about 330,000 men who had sacrificed their lives while trying to overthrow the Ching Dynasty. The temple bears close resemblance to the Taihe Dian Imperial Palace (故宮太和殿) situated in Beijing. No doubt, there is a great sense of calm and solemn atmosphere about it.

One great attraction that is worth watching of the shrine is the change of guards parade (衛兵交接操槍儀式) every hourly. My understanding is that these military guards who guard the temple are trained to remain strict and stand rigid in front of the temple. They are to stand expressionless and unmoved by the words of the crowds.
